Ehealth progress leads to more efficient flow of communication

Dr. Vincent explains how ClinicalConnect enables real-time access to patient information.

Dr. Vincent, lead physician, North Woodlands Medical Centre explains how the ConnectingSouthWestOntario (cSWO) Regional Clinical Viewer, ClinicalConnect™  enables real-time access to patient information, test results and consults and improves information sharing among clinicians.

ClinicalConnect makes an individual’s health information available across the continuum of care. Sharing a common viewer interface, health care providers are accessing patient health information through the viewer anytime, anywhere within their region. Often, the system is used to foster collaboration and communication in real-time through online consultations where multiple health care providers can review the same information together from entirely different physical locations in order to make the best treatment decisions possible for their patients.

This initiative is part of eHealth Ontario’s provincial, ConnectingOntario, program which works to ensure that patients anywhere in the province, whether living in or travelling to or from south western Ontario, will have their health information accessible to care professionals across the entire province.

cSWO represents 30 per cent of Ontario’s population covered by the four south west Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) – Erie St. Clair, South West, Waterloo Wellington and Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant. London Health Sciences Centre is the delivery partner for the cSWO program implementation and management. Health Information Technology Services, a division of Hamilton Health Sciences is the key solution provider to cSWO, deploying ClinicalConnect to clinicians in south west Ontario.
